Traumatic Injuries – Port St. Lucie, FL

Dislodged Teeth

Injuries to the mouth can cause teeth to be pushed back into their sockets. Your general dentist may reposition and stabilize your tooth. Root canal treatment is usually started within a few weeks of the injury and a medication, such as calcium hydroxide, will be placed inside the tooth. Eventually, a permanent root canal filling will be placed.

Sometimes a tooth may be pushed partially out of the socket. Again, your general dentist may reposition and stabilize your tooth. If the pulp remains healthy, then no other treatment is necessary. Yet, if the pulp becomes damaged or infected, root canal treatment will be required.

Avulsed Teeth

If an injury causes a tooth to be completely knocked out of your mouth, it is important that you are treated immediately! If this happens to you, keep the tooth moist. If possible, put it back into the socket and call your general dentist! A tooth can be saved if it remains moist. You can even put the tooth in milk or a glass of water (add a pinch of salt.) Your Endodontist may start root canal treatment based upon the stage of root development. The length of time the tooth was out of your mouth and the way the tooth was stored, may influence the type of treatment you receive.

Injuries in children

An injured immature tooth may need one of the following procedures to improve the chances of saving the tooth:

Apexogenesis

This procedure encourages the root to continue development as the pulp is healed. Soft tissue is covered with medication to encourage growth. The tip of the root (apex) will continue to close as the child gets older. In turn, the walls of the root canal will thicken. If the pulp heals, no additional treatment will be necessary. The more mature the root becomes, the better the chance to save the tooth.

Apexification

In this case, the unhealthy pulp is removed. The doctors place medication into the root to help a hard tissue form near the root tip. This hardened tissue provides a barrier for the root canal filling. At this point, the root canal walls will not continue to develop, making the tooth susceptible to fractures. So it is important to have the tooth properly restored by your dentist.

I broke my front tooth off at gum line, my dentist office contacted Dr. Sprechman’s office & they agreed to treat me that same afternoon which extended beyond their closing time. Staff & Doctor made me feel comfortable during my visit and i also got a courtesy wellness call the next day. As far as a root canal goes, my experience was a definite positive one.

I am so impressed and grateful to the staff and Dr Sprechman! I had been experiencing pain in my teeth and jaw for a few days, went to my dentist and they couldn’t find anything but the tech there gave me DR Sprechman info. Even went to my oncologist thinking it was something to do with treatment but then after trying to have soup the pain in my teeth got worse I called Dr Sprechman’s office. I called at 3:40, got an appointment for 4:40 that evening. The staff is so excellent, the facility is immaculate and the music playing overhead just so cool! Dr Sprechman ordered X-rays and did some testing and then 3D X-ray which detailed my area of discomfort! He explained everything to me and I was able to get my root canal that evening. I woke today pain free and feeling amazing. Thank you again I have already been singing your praises all over town!

Dr. Sprechman and staff are incredible. I was a new patient that needed a root canal right away. I was going on vacation in a week when my tooth started acting up. Dr. Sprechman and staff treated me so well! They got me in the same day and were so knowledgeable and professional No one likes a root canal but with Dr. Sprechman it was virtually painless and fast, from the appointment to paperwork to the actual root canal and then follow-up. I cannot thank Dr. Sprechman and staff for treating me so quickly as they saved my vacation from an almost disaster! They are tops in my book and I highly recommend both Dr. Sprechman and entire staff.!

If I had to recommend a root canal like a restaurant to a friend this is the place I would send them. In and out in an hour. That included me filling out the paper work.

I was referred by my dentist to re-evaluate an old root canal. The following day I was seen by Dr. Sprecman. The minute you arrive you are greeted by a friendly staff. From there it only gets better. Dr. Sprecman takes his own X-ray & CT. He then explains everything to you in a very in depth friendly manner. He is an outstanding endodontist with an awesome personality. I would give him a 5 star review.

DR Sprechman is a good dentist. He explains in detail what treatment you need and what the outcome will be. He has many years of experience and knows what he is doing. The office staff, Lindsey and Kaylee are wonderful. Very friendly and always accommodating. Hopefully, I will never have to get another root canal again, however if I do, I would make a return visit and highly recommend him to others. Thank you for a job well done!!!

The absolute BEST, I wouldn’t go anywhere else for a root canal, and a few of my friends feel exactly the same way. Dr. Sprechman is kind, personable and more importantly knowledgeable and gentle. He knows his profession, and does it well. The office is clean and modern, and the staff is warm and welcoming.
